Zoro Music Award 2003
Che uno si compri uno dei più bei dischi ascoltati nel 2003 3 giorni prima che il 2003 finisca è cosa bizzarra ma possibile. Succede così che nella mia inutile classifica dei più bei dischi dell'anno entri di prepotenza The Headphone Masterpiece, doppio cd d'esordio di Cody ChesnuTT. Avete presente la vocina che si alterna con il rap dei Roots in The Seed, l'unico pezzo tormentone che veramente abbia ritenuto degno di tormentarmi quest'anno? Ecco, quella è la vocina di Cody ChesnuTT. Ma ciò che in The Seed viene solo intuito, in The Headphone Masterpiece si apprezza in maniera completa, stupendo e conquistando ad ogni ascolto.
Quello di ChesnuTT è un bel soul rozzo e ignorante, chitarra, cassa e rullante, basi semplici, senza particolari fronzoli che non siano le variazioni della sua voce, protesa naturalmente verso un falsetto doc, un sussurrio paraculo, un timbro flautato che diventa spigoloso e cupo quando meno te l'aspetti.
Comunque, parlando di classifica, la fanno tutti, la faccio anch'io, limitandola a 20 titoli.
